Fourth Quarter - 2006-2007

T. Will Newman, President FY 2006-2007

Dear LAMAAA Members,

Monday will mark the beginning of the term for our new LAMAAA Officers. Thank you to the many who have pitched in to help make the 2006-2007 LAMAAA year as successful as it was.

Thanks to our many presenters and helpers at our training meetings. Thanks to our supervisors & our employer for recognizing LAMAAA as a worthwhile organization. Thanks to each of you for your participation and your desire to grow together.

Special thanks to our LAMAAA officers who have given of their time and talents in behalf of all of us. I very much appreciate how each of them has made an effort to pull together and plaster over some of my weaknesses.

I think it was Dickens who said “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times . . .” in A Tale of Two Cities. To each of us, Los Angeles is a tale of two cities: the one we see from the inside in our daily work, and the one we learn about from various news sources. For me, we live in the best of times. Opportunities are everywhere, and every challenge is an opening to serve better.

One of the reasons I enjoy participating in LAMAAA is that I find so many of you set high standards for yourselves—you are civil servants. When we were organizing the recent all-day training, it gave me great pleasure to hear from so many of you who really appreciated the message and workshop approach of Dr. Turrill and David Beard. They truly touched us with a message of working together and staying steady in the storm.

On behalf of all of your 2006-2007 LAMAAA Officers, thank you for allowing us to serve you. We offer our best wishes to the new Officers.

Best regards, Will
